Bootycandy
Written by Robert O'Hara
November 14-23, 2025
Director Serena Elize Flores
Take a wild ride through the mind of Sutter, a young man navigating his identity as a Black gay man in a world that doesn’t always want to understand him. In this bold and bitingly funny coming-of-age story, playwright Robert O’Hara shatters conventions with a mashup of vignettes, sermons, sketches, and fourth-wall-breaking theatrical moments. From awkward childhood memories to eye-opening adult revelations, Bootycandy fuses outrageous satire with unflinching honesty, confronting themes of race, sexuality, and cultural expectation with fearless flair.
Praised by The New York Times as “smart, searing, and sensationally funny,” Bootycandy is a kaleidoscopic exploration of identity and survival that is as entertaining as it is provocative.

Lexus Fletcher (She/They) has been in Santa Rosa for three years now. Lexus played

managing journey and has stage managed three shows for Left Edge so far. Originally
from Sacramento, Lexus started her theatre journey out there. She loves the happiness
that comes with being a part of a show and hopes to bring joy to people’s lives through
the theatre experience.

Tajai Jaxon Britten thanks the director, Serena, for this incredible opportunity to
be an understudy for such a talented production! He appreciates Left Edge
welcoming him for his first official show with the theatre! Born and raised in
Santa Rosa, Tajai delights in storytelling. He finds joy in bringing any character
to life, but especially loves telling untold stories of otherwise marginalized
communities. His most recent acting credits include Zach in 6th Street’s A
Chorus Line, and Montrellous in Clyde’s, Don John in the SRJC’s Much Ado
About Nothing, Mondor in Spreckels’ Metromaniacs, and Dr. Pearson in the
SRJC’s Stand and Deliver.

Shanay Howell is thrilled to make her third theatrical debut on the stage of Left Edge
Theatre. She entered the world of theatre at 6th Street Playhouse as Clyde in Clyde’s, a
play by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage. Next, she played Lucinda in the Spreckels
Theatre Company’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods. Shanay is
excited to work with an incredible production team and a dynamic group of talented
performers to bring this powerful work of Robert O’Hara to life. Shanay thanks her
family and friends for their constant love and support on this new adventure.

Jonathen Blue is a local performer, director, choreographer, designer, and educator
based in Santa Rosa. You may have seen him as Lola in Kinky Boots (6th Street
Playhouse), Paul in Six Degrees of Separation (Sonoma Arts Live), Duke Senior in As
You Like It (Napa Valley College), and most recently, Paul San Marco in A Chorus
Line (6th Street Playhouse). Blue, as he is affectionately called, is excited to return to
Left Edge Theatre since performing here last as Jeff in [title of show] in 2023.

Dana Hunt has been performing for Left Edge Theatre since 2023 in shows such
as Airness and Everybody, including stepping in for a one night only performance
in The Last Quiz Night on Earth. He has also stepped into the director’s chair for The
Shark Is Broken and can be found performing Improv and Sketch Comedy with
Creature Comedy at The California. He is beyond thrilled to return to the acting scene
and help bring this wonderful play, with its stellar cast, to life.
