Left Edge Theatre is proud to unveil its 2026–2027 season—an ambitious lineup of daring, thought-provoking work that centers powerful storytelling and fearless theatrical voices. This season invites audiences into stories that challenge, provoke, and linger long after the curtain falls.
The mainstage season opens with Jeremy O. Harris’s groundbreaking and provocative Slave Play (September 25–October 10, 2026). Set in an antebellum fever dream where history, race, gender, and sexuality collide, this explosive work examines the enduring legacy of America’s past through a daring contemporary lens. Widely acclaimed and deeply conversation-provoking, Slave Play remains one of the most talked-about plays of the 21st century.
The season continues with Grand Horizons by Bess Wohl (December 4–19, 2026), a sharp and hilarious comedy about a long-married couple whose unexpected decision to divorce sends their adult sons into crisis. Filled with wit and insight, the play explores marriage, family, and the possibility of reinvention at any age.
In the new year, Left Edge presents Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Appropriate (February 5–20, 2027). When the estranged Lafayette family reunites to settle their late father’s estate, buried secrets and disturbing discoveries force them to confront a complicated and troubling legacy. Both darkly funny and deeply unsettling, Appropriate is a riveting examination of family, memory, and American history.
Next comes Sarah Mantell’s In the Amazon Warehouse Parking Lot (March 26–April 10, 2027), a moving work of speculative fiction set in a near future shaped by climate change. As rising oceans force a group of queer warehouse workers to continually relocate, they search for love, community, and stability in an increasingly uncertain world. The play is a poignant meditation on aging, chosen family, and belonging.
The season concludes with Mara Nelson-Greenberg’s acclaimed dark comedy Do You Feel Anger? (May 21–June 5, 2027). When an empathy coach is hired to improve workplace culture at a debt collection agency, she discovers employees who struggle to recognize even the most basic emotions. Absurd, hilarious, and surprisingly profound, the play examines the limits of compassion and the challenges of creating meaningful change.
In addition to the mainstage productions, Left Edge will host special events throughout the season. The company’s beloved Hindsight New Works Festival returns for its sixth and final year on August 8–9, 2026. This celebration of new play development will feature standout scripts from past submission cycles that may have been overlooked, brought to life through staged readings by local actors and directors under the leadership of festival director Jenny Hollingworth.
December also marks the return of Fully Committed by Becky Mode (December 12–13, 2026), back by popular demand for a limited weekend engagement. This fast-paced comedy follows Sam, the harried reservationist at one of New York City’s hottest restaurants, as he juggles dozens of demanding callers, celebrities, socialites, and schemers—all portrayed by a single actor in a tour-de-force performance.
Audition information and ticket details will be announced soon.
With this season, Left Edge Theatre continues its commitment to producing bold, relevant work that sparks conversation and connects deeply with its community.
